About Us
Ilo Chambers was registered at the Corporate Affairs Commission on September 16, 2003.
We operate a multidisciplinary practice encompassing corporate law, litigation, foreign investments, legal regulatory frameworks, public procurement, energy, property law, privatization/PPP, development sector/anti-corruption, and public sector-related work experience. Our services aim to resolve critical legal, governance, and development challenges for public and private institutions at national and state levels in Nigeria.
We have worked on projects funded by international organizations such as the World Bank, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Office for Drugs and Crimes (UNODC), United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), and United States Agency for International Development (USAID), supporting deregulations and institutional reforms in Nigeria.
Since the return to democratic rule in 1999, Ilo Chambers has been instrumental in democratic consolidation, legal and economic reforms for Nigeria's socio-economic development. We have engaged in projects and partnerships to support the Federal Government of Nigeria's economic reforms.
As members of the Legal Advisory Partnership (LAP), a consortium of Nigerian and English law firms, we provided senior legal support to the Bureau for Public Enterprises for over four years. Our work included revising the Nigerian privatization process, developing process guidelines, and preparing the PHCN successor companies for privatization.
We have achieved pioneering success in developing legal and institutional frameworks for public governance and finance reforms at federal and state levels in Nigeria. Our services include advising National Assembly committees on various laws, drafting bills, and supporting the development and revision of public finance management legislation for states.
We have supported capacity assessments, developed regulations and standard documents, and provided institution-building services to ensure compliance with new laws. Our advisory support extends to public procurement reforms at both federal and state levels.
We continue to advise the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) on public finance laws and practices, audit public institutions' procurement processes, and engage with sector stakeholders on public finance management issues.
Our personnel have extensive experience in the securities market, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. We are Capital Market Solicitors and provide comprehensive company secretarial services to corporate clients. A new division of our firm focuses on company secretarial, capital market, and regulatory compliance services.
Our firm collaborates with local and foreign firms and international consultants in the US and Europe, leveraging their technical expertise for specific tasks on a case-by-case basis.
We have experience strengthening integrity systems and supporting regulatory and anti-corruption institution-building efforts. We have advised key agencies, including the Bureau of Public Procurement, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, and more, to fulfill their mandates.
Our commercial practice includes secure credit advisory, debt recoveries, transaction structuring, oil & gas advisory, extensive due diligence checks, and sector analysis for foreign investors. We assist foreign companies seeking business opportunities in Nigeria, providing sector analysis, due diligence, local partner negotiations, and support services for establishing local offices.
Our litigation practice offers courtroom advocacy in regular and specialized courts, such as the Investment tribunal and before administrative or regulatory panels and committees.
